Segun Olu Senbanjo (SOS) football Competition ends amidst accolades and eulogies.


Segun Olumide Senbanjo Sport Competition targeted at developing Sport development in the grassroot has ended yesterday amidst accolades and eulogies as participants went home with trophies and cash prizes.


At the final event held at Dipo Dina Stadium Ijebu Ode, Senbanjo a Frontline Ogun East Senatorial Aspirant under the APC noted that the motive of the competition is to ensure sport development at the grassroot level is rejigged where new talents will be sorted out for bigger and better opportunities.


“JJ Okocha, Kanu and all the best football players all over the world started via their streets to clubs then became international stars, we want you to toe that path, this is why I’m committed to ensure we support your dreams and aspirations. This is just an introduction of many more to come, we will ensure your talent is known to the world”, he stated.


In his speech, the Chairman of the Occasion, Prince Ade Adetona applauded the organizer , Omoba Senbanjo for associating with the younger generations especially promoting sport development with Ijebu axis. He stated that if many had toed same path especially in supporting grassroot sporting activities where new talents are discovered, perhaps the menace of unemployment and crimes would have been reduced drastically.


In his words, the Special Guest of the occasion who doubles as the Commissioner for Youth and Sport in Ogun State, Dr Dare Kehinde popularly known as Hacco applauded and eulogize the organizer for the great impact he has successfully achieved by contributing and showing passion for sport development in the State. He furthered that Ogun State Government is committed to youth development promoting and developing the cognitive and psychomotor domains via qualitative education and sports competition among others.


At the final event, Na-God football club took the gold medals after defeating Super-Star Football Club by 2 goals to 1; while Bright Academy club took the bronze medals.


Speaking with newsmen, the Footballers hailed the organizer for finding them worthy of investing his resources on them, praying that his aspiration to represent the Senatorial district becomes fruitful as this will mean more contributions to sport development within the Senatorial district hence illuminating their talents to the world.


At the soccer event are top Ijebu Sons, including Prince Kunle Adedeji, Hon Oduyemi Tolulope Olubiyi and many others.
